I ran into a difficult problem: I want the source image to tile along with the size pixels. Anyone? Maybe it can be done using the kaleidoscope?

I'm making genuine Delfts blue tiles. I want to be able to create a wall of tiles (size/pixels) with the lifesaver displayed here and there (so not on each tile). Sort of like the image below but then scaled to the size of a tile.

That's an interesting problem indeed. None of the existing 'tiling' snippets works correctly with 'size/pixels', AFAIK. Does anyone else hear 'challenge'? smile;)

Your delft tiles are looking excellently photorealistic, btw. smile:)

I don't think it can be solved in FF's current state. So it's something for the wishlist. Either a new component, or put this feature into the Tiles component, or add an extra mode to the Kaleidoscope component. I think the Tiles component would be the most logical place.

yeah... damn you stupid mac version

Yup, looks like it.

There was some talk about introducing a 'repeat' component, and also about the inherent speed issues it would have:

The only reason why we didn't include the Repeat component is that it would be VERY, VERY, VERY slow when its subtree has any bitmap-based component such as Blur or HighPass. For example, when the Repeat component is set to 10x10, that would mean the blur will have to produce an image 100 times larger than normal. This means the filter will be 100 times slower. This is a limitation of our current architecture.

However, the above problem appears to be a result of the limitation of the 'Image' component. The image component could be considered to be hardwired to a 'Fixed' state (like the option on a frame component). What it needs is an option to turn this off, so it would properly repeat & tile with the 'Size, pixels' slider. I imagine this would be rather easy to implement, and it propably won't even incur the speed penalties Vlad mentioned in the quote above.

I would suggest putting a single tile into Quasimondo's "Simple Tiling" filter.....then sync it and blend with the grout tile grid that you have.....

That doesn't work, that's the whole point here. Just open Quasimondo's snippet and hit the size/pixels slider, you'll see what I mean.

I know......it's the next best thing you can do.....since what you want is impossible until FF comes out with a proportional gradient profile in version 2......
