Hi.
Im looking for advice to create a filter: an incrementing rotating square that get its size from the brigthness of an image. I always admire the work of Jean Pierre Yvaral. here is a sample of his work. Is there a filter that already do this? If not, I know you guys this is a piece of cake for you. ![]() |

Here's something to get you started. Right click, save link as, and open in FF.

At first I thought that it would be easier to download the filter and see it but then when I tried myself to see it I have discovered why is this question (see below)
Well, there may be a reason why beto33 and me too can not download the filter, and it is that is not compatible with FF 9, so I think is for FF 10, and I still have not received my beta licence key, and maybe others will not be able to do it if the trial time have expired |

As SpaceRay comments... I can not read the filter.
Maybe a screenshot of the filter node structure to understand how is made would help. |

I also can't open the filter because I'm still not testing FF10. Anyway I can guess how it may have been done.
The base is a bomber, with a square as particle. In the Squash plug, you put the image in black and white, passing it through an Invert. This way it will squash the rectangle more or less depending on the lightness. In the Rotation plug there is probably a Perlin Noise, to give a random rotation but collected in shapes, not completely randomized like you could get with Rotation Chaos input. That's all. |

Ah, I have FF10 beta, and I was curious... so I've attached emme's filter in a FF7 version. Hope you don't mind emme.

FOR RACHEL Thanks very much Rachel for your help, great that you have made the conversion to FF 7
FOR EMMME thanks very much too for emme for been able to make this amazing conversion image in the same way as it was suggested from the source example I have also made some additional extras, such as: color control for tiles and background tiles sides, so you can convert the tiles to triangles or spheres if wanted instead of only lines I have also put 9 presets as there was only one This is for FF 9 image_tile_array_v003_controls.ffxml |
