Do you know Petoskey stones?
They are fossil corals. You can read a description here : Petoskey stone They can be a nice idea for a new filter. Here is some photo to show it : ![]() ![]() ![]() |

CFandM already has this in the library: Petoskey Stone
Nice photos though. ![]() _____________________________________________________

There is this version as well that uses a loop for the lines that allow more customization with editing...This has only one preset and is not a filter submitted as of yet....

Good job! Can you make the radiating spires thicker and/or rounder?

Very nice. Thanks CFandM.
![]() For Rick Duim : Looking at the filter structure, making the radiating spires thicker is not difficult. In the loop, change the Threshold value of the Step. ( It is probably better that you also reduce the number of iterations of the Loop from 6 to 5, because the last and the first iteration blend together creating a darker line ) To make them rounder, if I got what you mean, it needs to do some change in the filter. |

From the examples Ramlyn has put, it seems that these stones have different sizes in the hexagons textures, and they keep being tight, although it seems also the grout or lines separating the hexagons can be diferent width
In the well done and nice filter by CFandM it seems that all the hexagons are nearly the same size with the beatiful texture! And do not know if the lines (grout) in between can be resized and keep all right So maybe I think that it can be improves and made it more like the real petoskey stones So it can be a challenge to see who can make an even better filter That gets more closer to the real images shown here above |

SR as I said this is an unsubmitted filter and it is a work in progress so yep much room for all kinds of things......Here is the version with the spires in the loop using different components to make those spires....Also tweaking the polygon after the loop you can affect the roundness of the hex shapes a bit....

I'm going to upload a filter : "Pattern :Thorny". The result is different from Petoskey Stones, but I must say thanks to CFandM for the basic idea.
