Hi Ronjonnie,

I guess that Water Splash filter will never give me peace unless I rebuild it...

In the meanwhile, working on an alternate "Surface" shading system which is made as a Simple filter.

Lights, shadows, reflection are all from gradients, refractions, blast shadows, etc.

It is still in progress. Want to add at least transparency (Glass) into it.

Oh yes, and Derivative if of course used in the shading.

Probably some ambient occlusion and highlight flare needed as well. (None of those are implemented yeat)

The input is a simple Blocks noise. No other map inputs yet.

This is very interesting and useful to have so the filter could be faster and better, and like very much the examples you have put and are very well done, specially for the color mapping of the FF built-in images, congratulations!!

I have missed your last post on the page 3 that looks very good and like very much this cube and the transparent gel or crystal overlay over the mapped images

And very good that you can turn the cube, at least in this limited amount.

Do you mean that you have not been able yet to make the same 3D extrusion that you can get in the Spherical 3D previewer?
________________________________________________________________

And also as you have used above color mapping for your new "surface" shading system, I got also the idea to use your well done cubes example shown before to make put a photo with overlay blend mode over it and got this shown below

I agree, they look very realistic and well done, and if they are faster than a normal surface filter would be very good

smile:eek: smile:eek: WOW! this looks really beautiful and like much this example you have shown of this metallic shading 4 sides star fractal. Well done

I have tried to modify this filter already before but with no sucess, so I congratulate you for making this.

Now this version is more exciting; it is a Simple filter, all lighting has been faked, so there are less artifacts and it renders faster.

I still had to render at 2x size to make it look good, but now I don't have to wait forever for the render.

Please, have you done anything else with this amazing and awesome beauty you have shown here, really love this kind of cubes with this shading and shadows you have been able to make here.

Actually I need to incorporate the image quality improvements Sphinx worked out for the Smudge 3D. Then this can be rendered at a much better quality. A few things in the works at the same time...

I just had a crazy idea smile:D

Mixing this amazing filter Dungeons and Flagons by Mike Blackney

with this other great 3D cubes

I know this would not be possible to mix probably BUT perhaps the result of the Dungeons filter could be pasted probably with blend modes over the 3D cubes result.

Is there still hope for this ?

I am asking this as in the end of page 3 is this

So I wanted to know if this has been possible, or not, and if this has been a personal and private work or would be possible to see more of this.

Thanks

WOW!! ThreeDee this shredder is really SUPER AWESOME!!!!! and I agree totally with Ronjonnie

I have since long time ago wished to have a shredder filter as the one already available is not very good and gives not a realistic result, BUT this is really excellent and well done.

But is this lost as the X-Files or will be able to have it? smile:?:

WOW!! Thanks really very much if you are going to have this gem and lovely filter available as is really well done and realistic and so I understand that you want to erase the evidences of how you made it smile;) smile:D

just one suggestion, as the FF filter does not need to follow the real and natural gravity forces of real shredder machines, I want to suggest that would be possible to make it available not only downward, but also sidways or upward, or at least, be able to rotate the source image according to the side of the image you want it to be shredded, but as said this is just a suggestion, and if this would involve much more work, and/or make the filter more complex, do not do it.

I like to just keep it realistic for now. I did put some basic modification options in the filter so that you can very the results. It is easy enough to rotate the image beforehand or afterwards, so that seems unnecessary. And you can always build your own variations if you want to.

Here's what the final version looks like. Now if the submit engine only worked I could upload it.

Now the only thing I would want shown already in this thread is to have the awesome and lovely 3D cubes effect you have done (who else would be able to make such a great 3d cubes than ThreeDee? smile;) smile:D )

I mean this one

and that it could be used to overlay images over it and have a 3D cubes photo smile:)

You have said that you had to find a way to make it faster, and wonder if you still have it and could work out how to do it.

This 3D cubes background you have done is really something very different AND NOT SEEN at all in any other FF filter and is really above and beyond any other effect I have seen and like it much.

With the Fast Cast Shadows method.

The filter is a Simple filter and has been optimized so that it renders fast, some 7.3 secs for the above image on my (fast) laptop.

Glad and happy that you continue working and making it amazingly better, your last example looks very good and well done 3D effect and realistic shadows, and that awesome that you can add images on the top of the cubes, great and wonderful.

I suposse that you can define the size of the cubes and according to the size have less or many more.

WOW! it looks so beautifully and realistic and is ALSO fast? as only 7.3 for a 600x600 is very good. Great work for the optimization.
