I have recently started with Filter Forge in Affinity and come across a problem.
I wanted to do slightly different things with polar conversion and wrote a script ( being a programmer it's the obvious way to work out an algorithm)
My simple MapScript creates a shape as I want, but the returned item gets compressed into a square at the end of the original image dimensions.
Swirl It filter behaves similarly, but CFandM Polar stretches the result to fit.
What I am trying to achieve is like the cityscapes produced by Space Ray - a square image containing a circular distortion of the original.
Questions:
1) Is it possible to force the Result to ignore the image dimensions and produce a square like the cityscapes?
2) if so , how ?
Thanks for any assistance!
I would put examples here but it's refusing to attach my jpegs smile:-(

Hey westdale. I don't know if this is what your looking for or not. I made a modified version of CFand Ms filter a while back. and I included a " Pinch Polygon" control. It flattens the image. Chack it out.smile:)

DJI - thanks for responding .. the link in your message loops back to this page ? I've put an example so it'll be a bit clearer.
I may have found a part of the answer - have any standard square image as the 'Image', bring in my image as a Color Control and then overwrite the 'Image' with the modified circular version of my image. I'll try this over the next day or two. That probably won't link from an Affinity layer but it's a good exercise.

Got part way there .... by setting the required image to be 600px across and with a fair bit of messing about!
It'll be quicker to work in Designer smile:-) But was an interesting exercise.

and to get image alone , I blended the background to be a fill of 0,0,0,0

Thanks for the mandala link ... it's really nice - but doesnt take in two images ... for which
I learned a bit from Agamograph https://www.filterforge.com/filters/14605.html but the issue of scaling images of two different sizes remained.

Sorted but not sorted ....
I found the key sentence hidden away in the Frame component help ......
'Frame is the only component aware of the original image dimensions'
What I need is that Result does an optional rescale to fit the original image .
Repeat is what most people would want and I'm probably the only one wanting this !
Can't see that happening any time soon smile:-)

In a map script you can get access to the original dimensions as OUTPUT_HEIGHT and OUTPUT_WIDTH. Is that what you were looking for?

A clarification, you can get the original pixel dimensions by checking Advanced Mode on the Result component.

Thanks both for helping this beginner ... will play with those.
Slightly amused by the thought that OUTPUT_HEIGHT might give me the input height ....
