Question: Is it possible to use vector shapes, either as script or files and input them into various nodes, for example particles of a bomber?
I've figured out how to use bezier curves to make shapes, but I feel like this is a lot of steps, especially if you want to use a couple of different custom shapes, the filter starts to bog down. I've also figured out that you can use the selection as a shape in photoshop, but ideally I would like to use a few custom shapes in one filter at a time. Using pngs with the color select inputs is not ideal as some of the particles I use get stretched a lot, leaving pixelation in the results. Any thoughts, help or tips would be greatly appreciated! |

I guess you're looking for a solution for arbitrary shapes?
There is no official support for vector graphics, however if the shapes are simple you may be able to recreate them using the simple shapes in FF (stars, squares, circles, discs, triangles etc) and various transformations/distortions Take a look at this quite dated thread - there is a great tutorial (look for the latest edition on last page) and add to the concepts that you now have even more options in FF: https://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5&TID=9497 Perhaps you could post a few examples of the shapes you have in mind. |

Hey Sphinx, yeah you're correct.
I just wanted to know for sure that it wasn't supported in case I was missing out. Thanks for the link, it actually helps to see how many different ways there are to come up with shapes. The shapes I want range from simple abstract to detailed abstract, but precise rather than random for artistic sake. I could probably create something using some of these methods I will give it another go with these tips in mind and hopefully get the amount of steps down before it ends up in the bomber Thanks again. |

The latest version of the tutorial is the 6th edition....Creating Shapes 6th Edition
Got sidetracked and do not have time to update this anymore for now.....btw if you are crating shapes to use with the bomber you want to stay away from the "Free" components....For instance use the Profile Gradient as opposed to the Free Gradient......This will work better with the bomber and not cause any headaches as noted in the tutorial.... Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |
