Okay this is driving me crazy. I have spent 2 days trying to figure out how to use one of my own photos as a starting point for a filter. I can load the original if I click on show original but whatever texture is up at the moment covers it and even though I can move the slider over so only my original shows, if I click on filter editor, it pulls the filter over and not my original photo. If I try and start with new filter when I try and load an original image nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I just want to start with my own stuff and make a new filter.

Hi, if I understand well what you want, I think that you can do the following

To begin with your own photos and that they are available you have to use the image component ànd attach this to what other components you may want

To load your own photo into the image component you have to use load image on the menu

To keep your own photo always loaded and available you need to save a preset, so then it will remember the image loaded

Be aware that in filter forge there are two very different categories of filters

1 - TEXTURE FILTERS - where the texture is fully generated inside filter forge and does not depend on any xternal image loaded, and the result given will always cover the original image, only is used the resolution size

2 EFFECTS FILTER - Where the result depends on any of the source image loaded by you and it could be loaded by the menu image or through a color control

In the moment that you add a color control or image component to the filter is converted to effect filter

ORIGINAL SLIDER

This is just a verification slider, to see how does it look the original image, and it will always be covered by any other image available or texture

I hope this helps you

Glad to help and that it may be helpful for you

To see the difference of filters you only have to go to the filters page in FF website as select the tab "All filters by category"
