As mentioned in the topic, I need the outlines of the edge detection for the height output but I only get a flat surface as a result. If I add a decent blur to the detected outlines, they become blurred with a radius 5-times higher than entered.
If there is possibly another way to outline flat cells, that affects the height output, I'm in.

You need slopes - if your height map consist of 100% flat surfaces (even though these are mixed, e.g. one level is black, another white) you will not get shading.

Try enabling ambient occlusion, or disable the uniformity settings on the edge detection.

Another approach is to use a threshold to sel ect fr om two different perlin noises (one dark and one bright, with different variations).
