Some (unmentioned) features/functions of the filter: + 8 Texture types + 6 Edge detect modes + "Smooth Paint" for soft painting edges + "Wild MESS Mode" makes the painting go a little crazy  "From the moment we are born, we start being filtered..." |

If EDGE dectection included is not enough and more detail is needed, you can use other filters and blend it on your favourite image editor.
Below, one layer was rendered by "Sketch My Pic Up" on a separated top layer, and the one below was rendered with "Mess Painter" using multiply blend mode.  "From the moment we are born, we start being filtered..." |

BORDER feature included is very basic!
An useful tip: pre process your image first using the fantastic collection of frames in the library and get some very cool results. Below, the image was first processed by Kochubey's amazing "Watercolor Frame", then processed by Mess Painter. (in that case, don't forget to *uncheck* the filter's BORDER -- but of course, you can leave it on and tweak the "BORDER Width" to see what happens)  "From the moment we are born, we start being filtered..." |

Glad you got your EP ... About Time .... You have done some cool filters. This is a very useful filter. I like how you added multi saturation controls. I have always thought many painting and watercolor filters produce kinda washed out effects. Your's just sparkle with color. Just the way I like it. Great filter .....

The effect you get with the Harrison Ford photo is one I've been looking to get. Can you describe the settings you're using for both filters, to save us some time?

I'm very happy to know you liked it, and that this filter inspired you in some way! This filter started as crazy and exotic modification of StevieJ's cool filter (thank you for creating it, Stevie ) and borrowed many features from some of my own unsubmitted fiters!

FF offers an immense universe of possibilities...One thing I like the most: you can add your favourite "bonus features" to enrich your filters and offer to users some extra and unusual versatility that many commercial plugins don't! surfbored, the interesting thing about the Harrison Ford example effect is that I used mostly default presets with some extra tweaks...It may sound cliche, but results will depend a lot on the source image. There isn't an exact recipe of controls that will work on all images, but to achieve similar results, there are some tips to follow: On Sketch My Pic Up: Start with default preset and play with others, tweaking it to reveal important details about your source image while keeping settings below: - Contour Color: black (RGB: 0,0,0) - Bg. Paper Color: black (RGB: 0,0,0) - Blend Input Image: 0 / Blend Mode (19): 1 - BORDER controls: tweak it if you plan to use Mess Painter built in BORDER feature! On Mess Painter Start with default preset but tweak freely keeping settings below: - EDGE RELIEF: ON - Wash & Lighten: Use high values, above 70 - BORDER controls: tweak it according to the Sketch My Pic Up border settings. On Image Editor - Put the 'Sketch My Pic Up' rendered layer as top layer, blend mode 'Multiply'. Play with opacity. - Put 'Mess Paint' layer below, blend mode 'Normal'. (Adjust gamma/brightness if this layer is too dark.) - Optional: Use masks/eraser to hide details of the 'Sketch My Pic Up' layer you don't want to show. Use levels to tweak highs/lows if necessary. - Also, experiment any kind of creative post processing to enhance 'Mess Painter' layer shadows, like HDR filters, shadow/highlight, etc! Notice that in the example above, there are some strong shadows on eyes and mouth (even on original image). One suggestion to fix dark shadows on cases like that is post processing your flatted image on some HDR filter.
