I decided to have a bit of fun in putting this one together. Good for a festive looking starburst for that New Year stuff, too, probably.

I initially did it as a 3D texture, but decided that slowed down the render too much and changed it to a simple filter. There is still a couple of open parts on the tree where they can be connected in on a surface filter.

If you want to try the 3D version, connect the terminus of that tone curve to the height, and the respective thresholds attached to the reflection, reflect blur and metallic controls to the spots on the result for each. It makes for a little richer a look on the edges because of the bevels involved, but I decided it wasn't really worth the trade off on time for calculations.

Any case, you have a lot of options in this one. Anything from the starburst to a sort of field of flowers look, to retro flat fabric prints. Enjoy!

I'm going to try this as Second Life clothing: a transparent layer of stars floating over a solid color. Beach jacket over solid bikini, overskirt over a dress.

Sounds like a good option. Could do a few accessories to match, too. Sunglasses, beach ball, purse, or what have you... Might take a little finessing on some of the alpha layer overlap for some of those, though.

Thank you! And the trailing points are there for a surface filter, but for most uses, the simple would probably be the way to go.

Decided that a good update to this filter for Valentines would be to add hearts as an option on the shapes it uses. You can now use hearts in place of or mixed with other shapes in this filter. This image is one of the presets, but like the others, you'll be able to still go wild on the colors too, if you like.

I do not know HOW I could have missed this really great and well done filter that makes this really beautiful and lovely results.

This gives awesome results in a varied and different ways with many shapes that youcan make and build using combinations of the settings

But now thanks to the FFCat from Morgantao and Saragani I will be able to use them and do not forget I have this anymore.

Congratulations and Thanks!!

I am glad that you appreciate it. And it wasn't quite on the order of two years. It took a little over 5 months on this for the high usage.

Again, I am glad to hear it. Tempted to see about making some new filters again, soon, too. Been sort of letting it slide for too long.
