Thanks Lipebianc .... I really like your examples. The city image is especially cool. I still use this filter quite a bit, but have been thinking lately of creating an improved version ... If I ever get the time .....

hi gene,
i posted it. it's called "Simplifier - Buzz Style 1h". it was started quite a while back and has just set on my drive doing nothing. so, it could probably be modernized if someone wanted. i modded it ever so slightly in FF 3, so it wont work in FF 2. i looked at yours. i think yours might be better. i never owned Buzz, but i saw some of the results from it, so i had to guess a lot in making this filter ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

i havent looked at the guts of yours yet, but i think you didnt use any blurs from what i can see on the finished pictures. very nice, that! i cheated and used blurs, two of them. if i were to re-do it today, i think i know a way that i could do it without the blurs and maybe do it as cleanly and crisply as yours does.
i didnt really want to compete with your filter, but you asked me to post it ![]() ![]() ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Craig ... Thanks for posting your filter ... I do have Buzz Simplifier ... Got it for free just before the company quit making it on a magazine disc. For several years much of my photo work was based at least partially on the program. Here is a bit of a low resolution image that used to be part of my promo stuff when I was a fake musician .... Notice how the image is simlified without loosing too much detail. The trees in the background look almost painted.

In my filter I used a combination of a tone curve node and a median node to try to get the simplify effect.(I waited to buy FF until FF2 because I thought it wasn't very good without a median node) The effect of Buzz is to simplify the color and make it flatter looking without destroying the detail, much like a very good noise reducer. This image is higher resolution and you can really see the effect. See how the fur looks, so smooth and yet detailed, somewhere between real and not so real. I have always loved the look. Wish I could figure out the secret behind that cool filter .......

I imagine some filter guys(mostly the super ones)sitting alone days on end with red eyes in front of a dim pixel screen drinking large amounts caffeine and eating lots of munchies with cheezy poofs in their unwashed hair and scratching their unwashed skin. Is that too harsh? But at least it doesn't cost much ......

For the real addicts I think it's full HD. No filter super junkie will be caught with anything less ![]() |
