Amazing!
I started something like this last year...but it never got to the point of looking near this good.

Oh sweet! The default and variation 2 are fantastic.

The only improvement I'd like to see would be a more predictable randomization... maybe the remapping needs to be tightened a little?

Yeah, I actually tried this, but then it also seemed to limit some of the more extreme variations (which doesn't really look like bamboo but still cool). So I tried setting the randomization level a bit lower (in the randomization options dialog), which I found sufficient.

Fantastic, only request is a way to tighten the bamboo together so we can have the option to have less gaps.

Note taken. I will add more layers too (so you can control number of bamboo layers). And a checkbox to enable BG mask transparency..

Just rendered this in blender and you may want to consider softenning the joints on the normal. They buldge out quite a bit, but man still looks amazing!

It might just be my personal preference, but I've always liked filters that stayed true to their name no matter how hard I randomized them. smile;)

This one is awesome, I did'nt know that something like this was possible. Wow!
at least 90 percent of all sensation is texture, even beyond the visual, with elements of noise, tone, gradients, interval and degree.
