Just wanted to add a sample for this one.

I used the bump map for preset 4 to make the "pavement", and textured the cube and sphere with preset 6 and the default, respectively. The water is a default Bryce texture.)

That makes for an interesting surface. I can see futuristic people walking on it. smile:D

Thanks smile:)

I actually got this idea because the pattern reminded me of these 'porous pavers' I had seen in a magazine. Unlike standard paving blocks, they prevent run-off erosion by allowing water to penetrate the pavement, into a properly prepared substrate. I always thought it would be interesting to use them with a collection basin for a fountain, to give pedestrians a sense of 'walking on water'. smile;)

first, i think i commented on this filter in the gallery forum, but if not, i love variation #6.

and second, why would pedestrians be walking in a collection basin of a fountain? smile:)

and third, forget the second comment here smile:) you talking about your porous pavers being used on like a sidewalk or something where there would be a flow of water going through the pavers as a natural, continuous and decorative effect? if so, then i think that would be pretty slick. you'd have to seal the top, though, the walking surface, wouldnt you? interesting idea. expensive, but interesting.

Not sure. As far as evaporation goes, a simple float valve could keep the water level right. However; I imagine the grime from people's shoes would probably clog up even a great filtering system, so maybe you would need to do that, yeah.

you're not supposed to smile;)

i like the idea. and for some reason, i see it as something you'd see in Vegas, for some reason. you'd either have to seal the top or be in a very dry, low rain area. the water run-off from a heavy rain would pretty much screw something like this up VERY quickly.
