thanks, carl smile:)

there are a number of tweaks to this version. i changed how opacity works and the alpha channel. i also added refraction back and added a roughness adjustment, which gets rid of some of the dimmer shapes and colors if wanted. in fact, you can end up with some very simple forms if desired. there is also now a global contrast, black and white points and some others i cant remember right now. so, this is a more advanced version.

hmmm, just looked at the presets. i shld have rearranged them. we're seeing the same old ones as in the first version and none of the refraction ones.

with refraction added back (as an option you can turn on and off), and with anti-aliasing turned back on, the rendering times go up significantly. this one took 4 minutes and 51 seconds.

Yeah, but they're "eye-poppers"!!! smile:) Nice work!!! smile:)

Refraction can be such a beeeeeotch on rendering time.....especially on more complex filters......

thanks, steve smile:)

i like the way those came out, too. i just wish i knew the refraction index better so that i could predict when i'll get 'glass' and when i wont. i studied the help file on refraction and that helped understand what goes on there, but i still cant quite totally predict what will happen. so, it's still a bit of hunt and peck.

Yeah, not knowing how all the components will effect IOR makes experimentation the only way.....which can be excruciating with a slow filter.....unfortunately.....

well, like i said, the help file helped. i would never have guessed that the 'size' slider was involved, for instance, if i hadnt read that.

Yeah, I found that through testing.....but involves sacrificing and compensating for the loss (change) of effect if you set it up that way.....so I just leave it maxed and try to work with it.....
