A great idea with lots of potential! Actually, I was wondering just the other day if anyone has created a chess or checker board based filter before and it's good to see that you've been experimenting with the concept! Chess Machine is also works perfectly with the built in master Size control, ahahah, heaven knows that my filters go bust every time the size is set to something outside of 600 ^_^ I also really like Variation #4 with the contrasting tile borders, reminds me the most the filter's namesake ^_-

Oh, there are couple of suggestions I would like to make which are really just a matter of preference on the control layout, but it'll probably be more effective if I show instead of tell ^_- Please feel free to use this sample as you see fit -- sorry, it's a little rough around the preset edges -_^
