Now, why oh why do I keep hearing 'Steamy Windows' by Tina Turner in my mind's ear when looking at this?

I would have named it 'Titanic Car Incident' smile:D smile;)

The default look is excellent, but the rest of the presets are less impressive. Other than that, good work.

----Never heard that song ha-ha. I was gonna call it "Jellyfish Blur" up until about 3 minutes before I submitted it.

hmmm, 'embryonic', 'car incident' 'jellyfish'... when i first saw it, i thought, 'melted glass' or maybe 'runny nose' smile:) and i agree with vlad, i'd see if i couldnt do more variations on just the default and expand that one look a bit.

Hmm, I guess I didn't think that first preset was all that special really, I've seen several blur-ish filters do stuff a lot like it. I'll take a look at it though and see if I can expand on it in a halfway unique way. Thanks for all the interest from everyone though. smile:) And about the filter names in general, I figure it's either go technical, or go with hype/marketting, and why not try and combine the 2 when possible ha-ha. smile:D

Whoa, this could be used for some really surreal FX. Very tasty! What's the name of that preset lifesaver image that's used to show the effects of many filters? I totally can't get Titanic out of my head, now that you mentioned it... ha ha ha!

I got an idea from a recent filter Stevie did, and found a way to implement something similar into this one. Below are a few preset examples. Any comments yay or nay ? Note - If I update it, the old looks will be gone, they cannot be retianed, only the new looks will be included with an update.

----Well, the last examples there, are a whole new filter now. However, I cannot add the "fingerprint" look and still maintain the old look of Embryonic Blur, at least not without spending another hour or three on it, and probably ending up making it render slower. And, I'd really rather not make an Embryonic Blur 2, so I dunno. Lemme think about it, if nothing else, I can always email the "fingerprint" version of EB to people who want it later on if I can't figure out what to do about updating the original etc. smile:)

The new filter, "Graffiti Stripes", has been submitted. I'm still on the fence about updating Embryonic Blur, it's ranked fairly well as it is. I might just give it a while and see if it creeps up by itself, then if hits HU, just offer anyone who wants it the new version via email, and not update it officially or submit a new filter (lord knows I've got enough filters in the system, I'm trying to cut back, really ha-ha).

LOL

The second set of samples looks like a stamping filter... eye candy has a similar one I believe.

I like the name Graffiti Stripes for the third sample!! My first thought when I saw those samples.. was... 'Tarzan'... smile:D smile:D smile:D (chuckle)... I like Graffiti Stripes better...

Here's a thought... maybe a filter description update.. or adding color to the frost, leave the pattern and effect unchanged??? That way the filter gets some new twists and also gets to rotate back in for some 'attention'. Could just be users are missing it in the line up... and also... a color to control the frost color 'could be something they are waiting for'... I can only speculate on what users want,,, I do give it thought and try to think from their perspective (the users)... not sure if I'm correct but I did want to throw the ideas out there to you.

About making another filter as a goodie package with a different name... that's a great idea!!! You could drop the ffxml in this comment thread and the User Gallery... smile:D smile:D smile:D Excellent idea!

----I thought I could cut back on the filters by just working on them less, but all that does is make me focus more, and I get just as much done it seems. Ya just can't win sometimes ha-ha.
----Graffiti Stripes is up now http://www.filterforge.com/filters/4040.html It has a lot of looks to it, but it's definitely left of center, in that I can't imagine people using it everyday ha-ha.
----I'ma get back to looking at EB and see exactly how much hassle it would be to stick the new look in along side the old look. Gimme a few days or so on that.

----The *frost* is just a blur on the original image, I could belnd that 50/50 with a color, but I don't see that really making it any better. Getting a little more control over the design is what I had in mind for the update, but then I obliterated the original look while adapting that *sinuous* kind of look to it. It's already giving me a headache, and FF isn't even open ha-ha.

Beware, this update has all new preset, and the old looks cannot really be achieved with it. Your best bet, if you want both, is to just add an underscore or V1 to the end of the name of the original. Right click on the filter in your library list, select *Locate Filter*, and just rename it "Embryonic Blur_" or "Embryonic Blur V1", then close FF, and reopen it before downloading the update, then you can have both versions. smile:)
