Ooth, the filter's quite heavy. Thinking there's a lot of leg room for optimization?

I agree with Sky, way too heavy/slow (maybe too many Perlin Noise components) but it's got some cool potential. smile:) Optimize it and it'll get more uses for rankings I bet, if that concerns you, if not, just move forward and keep creating eh. smile8)

I deleted 2 Scale, 6 Perlin Noise, and few other things, but no big change.
The reason of the rendering time are the 2 Bomber+ and the final High Pass, I think.

Wow! You have finally make it available my idea of different sized rectangles that showed so well in this other thread. Although is not exactly the same, but is similar and close to what I suggested in some way

Combined thick lines texture filled mixed in different positions/sizes

but I could not guess how you have done it, it looks very good and awesome. Love the results shown on the presets preview. Thanks very much for creating and sharing it

Although I do not like at all any of the perlin noise effect, I prefer much better plain color.

But as it has been said, as it is too slow and heavy to use, I think that maybe the problem is that it has to repeat much the process for each of the rectangles and each one has a blur component for the shadow. As far as I know I think that there may be a faster way to use shadows without usi blur, although I am sorry that I do not remeber where I have seen it, but I will search for shadows in the forum

I have tested removing the blur and make the shadow just a solid black rectangle, and is faster but not enough, there may be another thing that is taking more time than needed.

Maybe you can start from making a simple one and then make it more complex addingmore things

Is a great pity that such a beautiful and awesome filter is so slow that even the 600x600 preview takes much time to render

I hope and wish that there could be a possible alternative to optimize this in some way, maybe someone else can find a better easy

Please, can you explain why the filter has two very similar parts that looks to be repeated? It seems that having just the aboce part would be enough, but I do not know why there are two bembers thread that looks similar, I may be missing something

Thanks SpaceRay for the nice comment.
I have also a plain version, without noise, of the same filter. I will apply some modification and post that too.

The reason of the two similar sets is that the filter has like two layers. Both layers can have different rectangles size, rotation, etc.
You can easily see it in the preset n.13. I post it here :

I have just removed only the blur for the shadows and made it totally plain shadow (without the blur) and it is a very high difference.

Here below are 3 speed test using the preset 1

With blur and two layers as it is originally available it takes

7 minutes 40 seconds for a 600 x 600 preview

Without the blur (just delete it and connect to the next component) with two layers and using a plain black shadow is goes down to

1 minute 40 seconds for a 600 x 600 preview

Without the blur and using only one layer of rectangles

35 seconds for a 600 x 600 preview

Thanks for explaining it, I could not see that there could be two layers of rectangles, now I understand and know it.

Please, could you be so kind to upload to the FF library this filter with the plain version without the noise, as I have deleted the noise from this filter but there is something weird that you do not get the same result without the noise or I am doing something wrong

thanks really very much and admire and love what you are able to do

Just click On/Off the noise in the first control.
I simply added a Median control after the noise. This way nothing is changed in the rest of the filter structure and it is still possible to have the noise with the same filter.
