Halálra szeretlek :
Filter dedicated to Nueng. ![]() The name of this filter is in Hungarian. It means "I love you to death", "I love you very much". Description : The filter is composed of six patterns that can be filled with five images or five colors. The first pattern is complete of shadows of all its parts. The patterns are made to fill a squared area. Do not select your image using the main Filter Forge menu ( "File->New Image" or "File->Open Image" ). Use instead the provided controls inside this filter : "Image/Color 1", "Image/Color 2", "Image/Color 3", "Image/Color 4", "Image/Color 5". There is a Heavy Metal song with this same name : Pokolgép - Halálra szeretlek |

I like the recent filters you have published, but naming them after Hungarian songs will make it difficult for people to find them, never mind remember the names.

Speaking of which, just how many languages are you familiar with?

I'm Italian and I live in Japan, so I speak Italian and Japanese.
Then, clearly, English. Some Thai, some Spanish and French.... I studied Latin, Swedish, German.... a bit of Indonesian and Hungarian... That's all, I guess. In the past I read some book about other languages ( Russian, Irish, Icelandic, ancient Germanic languages, and reconstruction of Indo-European ), but I can't exactly speak or understand them. Just a few words. |

Thanks EAdams.
![]() Ha! Ha! Ok, I will try to use mainly English. But anyway, many filters names, even they are in English, aren't of much help to understand what's the filter is about or easy to remember. I think that deciding a filter name can be done in two different ways. If possible, we can just try to express the filter use ( for example, my Jasmine Rice Design is called like this because the result looks like Thai jasmine rice ). But other times that same name is already taken too many times ( if all filters looking like a watercolor painting were called simply Watercolor Painting, it would be not good too ) or the result is so complex that no explicative name would match ( when I made this filter, I thought to put an English name, but...... what name? "Different combinations of polygons and other shapes" is probably explicative, but also too long and a bit silly ). Those cases it's up to us what we want to choose, and a random English name isn't necessarily easier to find than a foreign name when we look for a filter. The filters are also made for people of any country, so I think it is nice to put some other language other than English. Well, it's only my opinion. Ha! Ha! ![]() |

I agree that many filters in the library don't have useful names, even if they are in English. An example which is a musical tribute is Mike Blackney's "No Code" filter. Mike's filter does have the keyword "mosaic", though, so if I were looking for mosaic filters, I would find it. And once having found it, I might remember the name.
I wasn't criticizing your use of a different language, and was merely expressing my regret that the filter became less discoverable because of the name. I actually like the idea of honoring the international community by using a different language. However, even in Hungarian, your title is not descriptive of the effect the filter makes ![]() By the way, I think it is perfectly fine to create a filter called "Watercolor", even if there are already multiple similar filters, as long as it is not a direct copy. If I am looking for a watercolor effect, I will definitely search for "Watercolor" and would want to find all such filters. Then I can pick the filter that does the best job on the image I want to edit. I do think such a name should have a differentiating prefix or suffix (e.g. "Ramlyn's Watercolor" or "Watercolor by Ramlyn". |

I see. In theory the filter should appear anyway. When we make a filter, in the Filter Info we must fill three areas for a new filter and four for an update.
If you go on filter editing, you can find them : General ( filter name, author, author's url ), Description ( filter description ), Keywords ( search keywords ), Update Notes. So, if we put a series of words about our filter like "watercolor, painting, art", when we search the word "watercolor", our filter should appear even if the filter name is ABBCCC. I said "in theory", because many filters don't appear in the search even if they should. |

Hummm...
Ok, I may do a middle way between having a different name and keeping it. To make really very easy to find the filters, I could add a theme at the beginning of the name. Just one word that doesn't exactly explain the filter but that can be useful. FF has categories. But after, inside every category there are hundreds of filters with different specific themes. If you look in Organic, there is blood, skin, hair, etc. So I could add a more specific word. Example : ![]() This filter is simply in the Misc category. The name now is "Space Pirates". I could update it to "Flags : Space Pirates". "Halálra szeretlek" is more difficult, because the category name is already Frames. I may use the same word as "Frames : Halálra szeretlek" ( "Multiframes" or "Art Frames" could be nice, but who simply looks for frames may miss a filter starting with "M" or "A", and anyway the name would become too long. ) Ok. Let's see. Next time it will be much easier to find my filters. ![]() |

I have just found this filter, and I like it, and is a good idea, but I could suggest to have more option to be able to modify the 5 design available as there is none
Please, do not get me wrong, is that there is no way to change anything of the 5 designs available and is pity considering this is done in FF where the main point is to have a filter that may be customizable and be able to change possible the results
WOW!!! Awesome and Amazing!! and you say that´s all I guess? is not enough??? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes. You are right. I should put more options.
The origin of this filter was an old wallpaper that I found somewhere. It had exactly these shapes. I liked it, then I made a filter about it. I may made a new version. ![]() |
