In most cases this filter narrows the color range, adds a glow and alters brightness/ballance that all together gives a retro effect on the picture. It can also re-color or tone the image.

The best way to use the filter is to press the Random button until you get the desirable effect.

The default settings are:
Color 1 = Red (R 255; G 0; B 0)
Color 2 = Green (R 0; G 255; B 0)
Color 3 = Blue (R 0; G 0; B 255)
Contrast 50
Brightness 50
Glow intensity 0
Glow presence 0
C1 Intense&Inverse 1
C2 Intense&Inverse 2
C3 Intense&Inverse 3

For small adjustment, please note that changing the Color 1, 2 or 3 will recolor the channel R, G or B with the selected color (but only if Intense&Inverse is in default positioN).

Glow presence will bring glow to the image (how much of selected glow strength will be applied to the image). Glow intensity will define the strength of glow.

Altering Intense&Inverse scheme will change the colors. Once all sliders are at the same position, the image becomes monochrome. When two sliders are at the same position, smaller color range becomes available.

An example:
Left is just a snapshot of a church om a gray dark day against the relatively bright sky.
Right is the same picture after the filter is applied. No other corrections are made.

I just kept pressing Random to see if I can get something of it with this filter. A sepia colored image was looking interesting.

The Glow intensity and the glow presence are not only creating the glow, but also lighten the whole picture, so I raised the glow intensity to 90 and presence to 60.

Finally applied the filtered image on the original in a screen mode.

The result is an old looking picture of the same church with a mysterious vibe because of the glow.

See Filter Forge featuring this filter on its Facebook which is very pleasing. So, here is another example of how easy it is to use to create a nostalgic retro images. Now it's spring and I made a picture of white blossoms on the background of blue skies. Unfortunately the sky is so bright, that it becomes distracting. So I decided to use the Retro Color Multitone. Just a preset withing the filter. All I had to do was to increase contrast and brightness slightly and alter the colors. After that just increased sharpness and darkened the edges in Photoshop. The result is a nostalgic retro image of the spring blossoms.

P.S. The funniest thing is that on the final image it looks like all the trees are blossoming while there is only one blossoming fruit tree there smile:)
