I received an email about my arrow filter generator. And I put this here, because my reply will help others users.

Richard has sent you a private message via www.filterforge.com:

SUBJECT: Feedback and Arrow Gen modification requestYour GF Arrow Generator has great potential because of all the possible permutations. I really like the 360 degree capability and the vertical and horizontal flips. Ease of use in the Settings section needs improvement but I was nevertheless impressed with all the style modifications I was able to make once I succeeded in identifying the correct arrow.

I have a request. Could you please make the image backgrounds for the arrows truly transparent as indicated by your use of the checkerboard pattern on your 20 factory presets. I'm still experimenting with your arrows in various software programs.I know that this can be done because I have saved a clock from Clocks_V1 (author: myendless) as a transparent PNG and brought it into other programs. I have also done this with Rainbow 1zle (author: Kraelin). Hopefully, you will be able to analyze their filter files to see what they do to their background filter settings to make this possible.

Here's what happens now: If I open your arrow generator and choose one of your arrows in the standalone version of Filter Forge 2 Basic Edition, the screen will show your arrow superimposed on the Lifesaver. If I next open one of my images in Filter Forge 2 Basic, my screen will show your arrow superimposed on my image without the Lifesaver. However, when I save the combined your arrow/my image combination as a PNG file with transparency and then open the file in any of my graphics programs which support transparency, alpha channels, PNG, etc. your arrow PLUS the Lifesaver is part of my image. The Lifesaver is not transparent, zut alors!

All I want to do is to be able to select one of your arrows in your filter, modify it to my liking and save it as a PNG file with background transparency. Please make the lifesaver disappear for me. Thanks

Hi Richard !

First, click "File", second, click "New image". And click on any color. At the bottom on the dialogue box, you will see an "A" and this "A" must be at "0" for having the transparency. After that, you click "OK" and also click "OK" in the new image dialogue box. So you can now save your arrow in png directly with FF.

Unfortunately, your arrow filter is still not working for me. I have posted a video (approx.8mb wmv file) on my website so you can see what I am doing wrong. Please go to http://dogthief.magix.net/public/

You will see a picture of an abandoned stazione ferroviaria. At the top, where it says, "Vuoi siete qui". There is a rainbow. Click on the rainbow. You can stream the video or save it to your hard drive.

I e-mailed you because I had problems registering for the forum but later discovered I could e-mail you without being registered. I've now figured out the reason I could not register last night but I'm not used to communicating on forums and cannot seem to find any information about this one. It looks like I am limited to attaching an animated gif if I want to describe anything that involves movement. SWF or FLV capability would be much better. It's much easier to use my website which accepts a wider range of files.

Allo Richard

My Webpage

Bonsoir, Ghislaine

My native language is English pero tú puedes escribirme en francés, inglés, español o italiano. I prefer to write you in English because my knowledge of French is limited to travel vocabulary. Yes, you do speak my language. My great grandfather was from Schirrhoffen, Bas-Rhin. He spoke French, German and the Alsatian dialect in addition to English.

O.K., back to Filter Forge. Your filter works great. I misunderstood your instructions (makes a fist and hits himself in the forehead). I am attaching a jpg which will show you what I did wrong. It should be self-explanatory.

Now that I know that you can create an arrow generator, my question is whether you have the Filter Forge knowledge to create shapes like word balloons. The generator would have a choice of shapes that convey human emotions. There would also be a choice of colors to convey nuances or levels of feeling. The user would add the text later. I'm sure you've seen websites like http://icanhascheezburger.com/ Their text boxes are boring though.

I have a related idea but it does not seem to be the kind of filter that you tend to create. I see numerous generators which claim to make images look like comic book illustrations but I still have not seen one that is able to turn out images that look as if they were drawn by the late, great Roy Lichtenstein. I'm going to submit that idea under the new filter suggestion topic.

ciao for now, ragazza
Richard

Back again.

I browsed to the image I created and the link showed up in the browse box (Attach a file). Then I clicked "Post Reply" but I don't see a thumbnail of my image or a link to the file on the Filter Forge server. The file was only 107k. If you know why it didn't work, dite moi, svp?

Hi Richard

No sé lo que pasó con su imagen. La primera vez que carga una imagen, he tenido problemas. The file must be in jpg or png, but png takes more space. You must try again. It took me four times to get it ok.

About the word balloons, it was not in my projects and I do not know exactly your needs about that. Sure an image can help to see what you want and don't want. On one of my websites, I have created word balloons with one of my softwares from selections. But a word balloons generator must be not so hard to create, with gradients colors and lot of forms. I will try something but I do not promesse that I will create one. If you want to see some of my word balloons, just click this link.

Hi, Ghislaine-

I like your sense of humor."Suis pas venue ici pour ecouter la tv. On pourrait pas faire autre chose?" I will try uploading the image again per your suggestion. It's a jpg I'm trying to upload. Nothing special. Just an example of how I use my software to communicate graphically. It explains why I am interested in your ability to create graphics generators ie."Un petit dessin vaut mieux qu'un long discours." I don't have a pressing need for a word balloon generator. I was just curious about your software skills but I have now been to your webpage. I left you a message in your guestbook.

I also do some Flash. I use Swishzone software (Australia) but I am presently experimenting with video using Sony Vegas. If you look at the all the different kinds of media files it imports (see screengrab) you, more than most people, will appreciate the creative possibilities.

Gotta run now. Need to put out a roll of hay.

Finaly you got it ! Bravo Richard! smile:)

I have Swishzone and many more. But I'm in love with FF.

You must know that we can put only one image a la vez sur le forum.
