Please Download the tool FROM HERE

After some time (please look below if there is a newer version BEFORE downloading this one)

I have uploaded a little tool that will allow you to load all your FF filters you have, and let you categorize them in your own custom created folders, add your own keywords, and rate the filters fr om 1 to 5.
Then you will be able to search the catalog just like you do inside FF.
Each filter will have the 600x600 preview image of the default preset.

Please play around with the tool and write your impressions, comments, bug reports and requests. The feedback you give me will help make the tool better.

I want to get as much feedback as possible, so everybody should tell us what they think.
So please, download the tool and give it a try. If you don't like it just delete it.

HOW TO LOAD THE FF FILTERS INSIDE THE TOOL

Morgantao wrote:
To add filters to the catalog, click the Add Filters button on the top left. In the window that opens, navigate to wh ere your filters are, and just randomly choose any filter. The whole folder will be added to the catalog.

That way, if you bought the library backup CD, you can add all the filters from the CD by selecting any of the filters on the CD.

If you do not know WH ERE your filters are please look at this thread

Where are the downloaded Filter Forge filters located physically?

Simply they are located here --> C:\Users\SpaceRay\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 3\System\

To reach for this you can use %APPDATA% or opening FF, sel ect one filter and use the keys CTLR and L and then it will open the Library folder and only have to go up one step to the main System folder

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THIS VERSION POSTED HERE

Before you get too excited, here's a few things you have to know:
Any individual using the tool provided here does so at their own risk. I, nor anyone else provides no warranty, expressed nor implied, and the tool is provided as-is. Scared ya, didn't I

smile:!: You need .Net 4.0 framework installed to run this tool. It's freely available from MicroSoft.

smile:!: Please note that you will lose your database from the previous version, as the database is now a little dofferent. Be warned, this may happen in the next few versions, as we're experimenting with the best and fastest way to make the database.
Remember this is not even in alpha stage, so bear with us smile:)

smile:!: You can change a folder name by clicking it and pressing F2.

smile:!: To add a folder, press the Add Folder button at the bottom left of the window.

smile:!: You can see which folders contain the filter in the "Folders:" field. To add\remove a filter to\from folders, click the Add\Remove Containing Folders button, located on the far right of the "Folders:" field.
Clicking that button will open a new window, with a list of all your folders. Each folder has a chackbox next to it. If you check the checkbox, it adds the filter to that folder. Uncheck to remove the filter from the folder.

smile:!: The search bar now works! You can search by Filter name, Author name, Description and Keyworkds (both default AND your own).

smile:!: Right now there's no way to remove\delete a filter or a folder fr om the catalog.

smile:!: Adding filters may take some time. Adding 8725 filters took around 1 minute on my machine

smile:!: The filters are organized in fr om oldest to newest in the online library. That means that filters that were uploaded to the online library today will be at the bottom of the list. There's no way right now to rearrange the filters.

smile:!: The catalog arrives with just the default filters that ship with Filter Forge. You can add filters wit the "Add FFXML files" button at the top left of the window.

smile:!: You have to be online to see the previews of the filters.

smile:!: You can see the default preset at 600x600 pixels, but the remaining 8 presets are thumbnail only.

smile:!: Factory keywords and Description are the keywords and the description found on the online library, as written by the author.

smile:!: In User Keywords field you can add free text. Use it to add your own keywords to help you find what you're looking for.

smile:!: Rating lets you rate the filters 0 to 5 stars.

smile:!: There's no save button. You don't need it. The tool saves everything automatically.

I AM SORRY I FORGOT ABOVE TO PUT THE LINK FOR FILTERS ON MacOS

Skybase wrote:
The correct path to your filterforge library is /Users/<HomeFolderName>/Library/Application Support/FilterForge 1 2 or 3

On MacOSX Lion, the library folder inside of your home folder is hidden. To access it, HOLD DOWN option (or alt) and in your Finder, go to the menu called "Go" you'll see the icon for "Library." Make sure you hold down option or otherwise this doesn't work.

If you have MacOSX versions below Lion, the library folder is not hidden. So no fuss there.

FUTURE UPDATES

Morgantao wrote:

First let me say that sorting the filters aphabetically, by author or by date added to the online library will be possible in a later version. I can't say if it will take 2 days or 2 months, but it will be possible

Second, we're working on adding thumbnail view to the filters, the way we have it in FF. It may take a few days because we need to create an image caching system, but it will be done.

Third, The next version will load filters even faster than now. It took 10 minutes the first time to load the entire online library, and now it takes about 1 minute, but that's not fast enough, we want to cut it to a few seconds!

So please, could be possibly be able to add a way to move the folders UP and DOWN and so would be really much easier to customize the folders and make them organized better and EASIER TO FIND too.

Arranging the folders the way you organize the controls in the filter editor is a great idea. I should have thought of that myself. Good thing I have SpaceRay to watch my back smile:D
I will see how soon we can get on that.

Assuming no catastrophic bugs are found, I think it's safe to say you won't lose your catalog anymore. This is a good time to start organizing your filters for real.

So, please, now that is more stable and more usable version and now you really can begin to use it and organize and manage the library I would recommend to try this one, and tell what you think, and see if find possible bugs and errors, and help Morgantao make it better, and also if you have any possible suggestions

Sorry to ask, but I am curious to know why it seems that nobody else is using this tool, or at least has not made any comment about it in the forum.

Please, could be possible to know:

Why are you not using it ?

Thanks.

Please, it would be good if you could test this great tool.

To motivate, these are the next updates that Morgantao will put.

upcoming versioin will have a new search results folder, like the one in FF. Now you will be able to see what's in your folders as usual, and come back to the search whenever you want.

Also, there's an FFCat icon, sort filters by rating, some minor cosmetic changes and bug fixes.

I'm writing a PDF manual with all the features and keyboard hotkeys.
I'm also working on a new video tutorial.
