My first attempt building a filter with loops.

Image

This one from the same filter, just different settings.

I feel alone posting all these images smile:p Bomber + iterator... kinda took long to render this but the results are nice.

Lots of cool stuff! How are you making those awesome swirls, Skybase?

Also, I'm getting some strange effects by looping the refraction component...

Ohh sweet stuff!! D:

Indigo, I basically just ran the noise distortion into the loop with some initial image (it can be anything really) smile;) Each iteration is additive. The results are divided by the number of iterations.

And that's basically it!

So... I totally don't need to use the iterator to do this but I did anyway. smile:p I just iteratively rotated some noise patterns haha.

cool and nice examples you have done here

Thanks very much CFandM for sharing this Circle Fractal filter, I like it and have many possible results and is also good for knowing and learn how you have used the loop component with the slaves components

AND your filter is very easy to modify and get different results just by changing the source shape at the top!!

For example changing it to a star I have got this

This Circle Fractal filter by CFandM made me remember about the Bomber Fractal by ThreeDee and using his own collection of shaded shapes can be added to this filter and get complex results smile:)

I have given credit to CFandM and ThreeDee inside the filter

Hello everyone ! smile;)

I was very busy to built a couple of websites that is why I was a long time out.
If you like 3d anim√Ęted screensavers, go and pick up my free stuff : a beautiful Sunset and an underwater scene at : http://3dscreensaver.t15.org and you go to the free download page.

Here my first try with loop component. A sun...

WOW!! Ghislaine, you have done some great work here, the playing with circles and images example is something I have been thinking that probably could be possible to make but did not really know how to make it, and now you have done it and been kind to share it here in the forum.

Well done and will see how it works.

Thanks SR !

These 2 filters are not completed, you have just to add controls or what you want. As said, I was playing...I'll try something else today and will share it, even if it is not finished. So you will be free to continue the next filters. smile:)

Hello! Glad to see you! smile:) In your case these button designs don't really need a loop component. Basically loop isn't doing anything because its set at the first iteration. The gradient is already being generated so you can effectively remove it out of the loop and have no issues at all.

I recommend adding some more detail work! I think it can use some highlights, shading, and a further hint of embossing, maybe some subtle texture work! Glass effect works very well, very simple to implement in FilterForge, plus you can make it work with any shape. Would make this button designer extremely powerful!

I remember the days when MacOSX featured jelly bean buttons... man they were so cute! smile;)

[Edit] Also might be interesting having a parameter to change materials. Like metal and otherwise.

YES! I am also glad to see Ghislaine back, the queen of the spirography and good and useful creative ideas.

Now that the Iterator that was requested (when she was making all those awesome spirograph filters she made) is available, what wonderful things could she think of? New spirograph generation? any other cool and great ideas?

I have tried something when looking at how other loop filters are built, and by accident got this while experimenting with components

This is using Techno noise and rotate it with iterations and blend each iteration with spectrum colors

here below is the 3 iterations example

Very abstract!

Edit: Ok so I just spoke the obvious. Rainbow's quite vivid! I suggest taking some color schemes from Colourlovers or Adobe Kulr to make those stand. If your output from whatever operation you're doing is grayscale, you can round the values by setting the granularity between 0.25 and 0.15. Then use the elevation gradient and plug in a 5 color gradient.

Trying different coloring methods... and also trying something else here. This is ... a very heavy filter. At 100 iterations + anti-aliasing... it's too slow. Original starting image = lifesaver.

What I mildly get bothered by with this filter is the render time... it's just not at an acceptable speed. I mean to me 1 minute and 30 seconds per 600x600 isn't that great performance. It's probably at it's best but yeah... smile:( Hey, the results aren't so bad haha.
