Maybe you can do this w/ scripting now...

http://scriptographer.org/scripts/int...onoi-tool/

http://www.raymondhill.net/voronoi/rhill-voronoi.php

Would be great to have a node that did this (or better: did it to a source image)

How would the source image look for the image you posted?

A bunch of dots, if I had to guess...
Probably something like:

Here's a combined view of the dots (source) and the result picture:

Yeah, and that is actually how the cell noise works, only we don't get to see the internal points, only the distances. With the bomber it is possible to control the placement of the points: use a b/w ellipse gradient as particle and set the blend mode to lighten.. the particle works as point now..

But suppose I have my point particles layed out with the bomber, won't the cell noise component add it's own points as I apply it?

Yep, that's it exactly.

Again, maybe it would also be possible to generate points from processing a raster image.

Maybe, some sub sample of pixels of a certain color. (Brightest white pixels, at a defined max radius from one another.)

Or maybe just define an upper and lower level, an a number of points to have. (again, would probably want an exclusion radius ... to set the max density of points.)

I also think that add adding a VORONOID node would be REALLY INTERESTING AND USEFUL.

I love all the many beautiful things you can do with this Voronoi geometric shapes.

Please see them in this google images search

Yes, you can. But since I couldn't script to save my life, I can't help you! smile:D

But I can proove that it CAN BE done with some images.
Here's the first image. It shows the dots in red, and the resulting fields with black lines.

Since I can't script, I had to use someone else's script and modify the OUTPUT.
That means I don't know how to control how thick the black lines are.
The problem is mostly where the dots are very close. Look at the bottom of the following image to see how the black line just dissapears between the dots.

Let's say that the dots are also in a state of a mathematicaly organized chaos smile:D
