Still needs work... haven't done any on it since I first made it.
If it looks like it'll be useful I'll fix it up and submit. |

I like it! Allow it to be deeper maybe, or even fill up "low parts of the image".

Just saw the update in the 3d analgyph (sp) topic and it got me thinking:
How about someone figure out a MagicEye generator scriptnode? Basically you input a heightmap and it spits out the image? |

That'd be pretty easy actually. I did that but never submitted it, all you need is an offset based on height.

You know I often thought about making this (non-script..I am not that good at scripting but learning) but for the life of me I always had such a hard time seeing these things in all their glory... ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

One of the biggest problems is that the pattern has a square aspect ratio, and if you look at all other auto-stereograms, they have a very narrow, vertical tiling. I am unsure how to accomplish this.

I one simple technique for creating cracks in Photoshop that I have been using in for many years now. You can see it here
http://stormvisions.com/pages/library...cracks.php It involves using the Maximum filter. The only problem with this is that it seems the Maximum filter results in a square grid -so applying it often results in the broken cracked pieces being squared. What I'd like to suggest is some sort of filter, similar to the Maximum filter, but that applied the choke(?) effect either as a hexagon or maybe even a crescent shape. I think this could make the cracks have a more natural curve shape. In fact if you could provide the shape to use as input that would open even more possibilities. Hopefully this is clear - don't always get the ideas out of my head and onto the page in a coherent way. |

If the bomber applied rotation before squash you'd get a more natural looking result.

I am really new to filter forge and I just love it and thanks to all that have create such awesome filters. I have looked through them all and what I need are more shiny metal chrome textures and more jewelry and more transparent overlay type filigree ornate textures. Things that are Baroque, Damask, Victorian, Rococo and just Renaissance Luxury. I have enjoyed what is out there now, but would love some new stuff to work with.

Nobody has made a compelling smoke texture yet. There are some interesting space nebulas out there, but nothing of the order of thick, black, billowing smoke. There should also be a hydrogen bomb filter, which would need smoke as much as a volcano filter would.

Bugs: I was thinking about making a generalized 'insect' filter. (Sort of like Sjeti's Beetle Collection, but more generalized to different sizes / body plans.) I think it would be considerably easier now that we have better offset, shapes, and bomber tools.
I'm probably too lazy to actually do this... maybe someone else would like to! |

Hey: someone should make a filter that does this optical illusion:

Can someone made a QR Code filter?
Here's a typical one: ![]() as they get bigger, they have more of those smaller slightly unaligned squares in between like this: ![]() |

Duplicate Flaming Pear's Freebie Solidify filter in FF (I don't have Adobe Photo Shop, and I can't get the filter to work in GIMP).
This one SHOULD be horribly easy, but I can't figure out how to do it. The input image has an alpha channel with anti-aliased edges. The point of the filter is for the output image to 'solidify' the alpha channel by blending the colors at the edges of the alpha image until the result is 'solidified' and the alpha channel is either removed or enlarged a margin to include a border of the blended edge colors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdYdXm3BFmU shows what this does at position 7:20 of the video. http://unity3d.com/support/documentat...amaps.html also shows this being done to a fern with an alpha layer, though it doesn't work as nice as the Flaming Pear filter, and again this is done in Adobe Photo Shop, which I do not have. But the image quickly shows the purpose and end goal of this filter. The resulting image will not have a transparency layer (or perhaps that can be reapplied with a value for how much to enlarge the border). The area that did have a transparency will now have the edge colors blended in amounts that increase the blend the further away you get from an edge. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/jetje...table.html is a tutorial that also puts this filter to wonderful use. I would think such a filter would be relatively simple, but for the life of me I couldn't figure this one out. ![]() |

Actually Romaq that sort of filter is very difficult construct in FF, since in theory we do not know anything about the overall sample configuration, just the source few samples supplied. In your case we need ALL samples, making this filter construction very ineffective.
However bitmap based components like blur, maximum and median might help you fake your way out of this... |

Ah, ok. For the moment I'm doing just that: stacking blurs on top of one another and expanding those out, then dropping the original on top. The results are not anywhere near as nice as the Flaming Pear filter.

Hi all
I'm a user of Filter forge and haven't ever done any of the designing of the filters ....EVER....Probably wont either as I like creating artworks too much and using the filters that you guys make. I must say all you guys rock. I absolutely love using filter forge, and could spend hours with it. In terms of thinking up new filters.....I'd love to see some french impressionist type filters. Cheers |

Rob A created a script (Python), that will call XnView to run all Adobe filters. You can search it at the registry - http://registry.gimp.org/node/24977 You can even call Photo Shop with it. ![]() Here is a list of programs i can call through it to run in Gimp. I've thought of looking around for how I can call FilterForge through GIMP instead of having to save, run FF as a standalone, and back & forth and such through save files.
In any case, rather than focus on Flaming Pear, if anyone has an approach to the problem of 'repeat & blur pixels at the edge of an alpha transition into the alpha space background', Flaming Pear's solution is 'nice', but any way Filter Forge could approach the problem would be very happy to eliminate halos on texture models that use alpha channels. |
