McGyver, first, I wanna tell you I loved your TV show, you're very resourceful Thanks for the ShareCG link, I didn't know about it. To your question, yeah, it's Windows only at the moment, but next week I'm releasing the source code, so you Mac users can try and port it. |

Thanks Morgantao! That is a great looking plugin, and an excellent idea. I hope someone can manage to port it for Mac, thanks for making it available for someone to try. | |||

There is an alternative to running Windows programs on a Mac platform.
Wine for Mac, or more specifically Wine Bottle.More information can be found here. http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ Rod

| Gene S Morgan | Morgan .... I finally got your you-tube tutorial on your FFCat downloaded today. ( I'm very slow at such things without WiFi at home) Your robot did a great job and better yet I was fooling around with the program while still on line and it suddenly started adding previews and presets. Up until then I thought your final version lacked that ability. This is so cool. I can see I got some learning to do and will have to work out some work process steps to get full use of the program. I'm a little slow sometimes figuring some stuff out, but I must say this is a major contribution to the FF community .... Thank you so much ..... | |||

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't been able to post a tutorial on how to use FFCat yet.
Anyway, I'm putting the tutorial on hold for now, since FF4 beta is right around the corner, and word around the water cooler is that maybe FF4 will feature filter organization tools.
If this is not the case, I will continue working on the tutorial. |

I agree with you, and I think that is not needed a new tutorial, with the good video tutorial you have done is enough.
Also you have done a good and intuitive work, and there is added the help with the needed keys to customize the FFCat. I think that even if FF 4.0 has the much wanted filter organization tools, I think that probably is not as good and excelently done as your FFcat (wish I am wrong and they copy the same way as in FFCat) and I will keep using it if still compatible. |

I have a feeling that the whole filter list is going to be revamped in FF4. It's going to be more than just custom folders.
In any case, FFCat will stay up for download, in case anyone finds it usefull, for any reason. |

I am actually surprised you guys weren't approached about using your program code in the new beta 4 release. It is that good in my opinion.Besides as many people that have downloaded it are now familiar with it.I think the FF team should consider that.
I have not heard of beta 4 yet. I assume it will be awhile before it's released anyways. That and the fact that it will probably be a pay upgrade. Many folks will probably keep using 3 and your file system that works with it.I know in this economy i can't afford to upgrade (if it does cost anything). The code there can't be used in FF4.
FF is probably written in C/C++ (Although I never checked it) while FFCat is written in C#/.Net and uses WPF, Binding and other cool features. This is why FFCat cannot be converted to Linux or Mac code easily. |

Well perhaps they could use the same design in the new FF 4 beta.Just to keep it similar. Rod

I imagine the design will follow the FF current UI, maybe with a new tab or browser window, like the obsolete filter browser.
No matter how they design it, it's gonna be a welcome addition to FF! |

We're planning to introduce a built-in Filter Manager in Beta 2 of FF4.0. Here's the official discussion. Everyone who likes and uses FFCat is invited to participate and give their feedback:
