I have put already some time ago a thread about a bug that makes Internet Explorer browser to change the .ffxml file prefix to .xml

You can read more about it in this other thread http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...8&TID=8908

I have tried to do this and everytime all I get is an XML file that doesn't work as a FF filter. Do I need to change something in the file? I know nothing about code.

Are you using Internet Explorer ?

Because Internet Explorer does NOT recognize the ffxml format and transforms it into simple XML. the solution is to use any other browser that will download correctly in ffxml format

Mardar, you just have to right click on the ffxml file and save it in your "my filters" folder in FF3 witch is in app/data, roaming, FF3, etc.

Carl you ONLY need to rename the prefix from .xml to .ffxml IF you use internet explorer, on the other browser the .ffxml is already written.

Ghislaine, as said by Carl, there is a much easier solution than this, right click on the file and choose "save target as" and save in ANY place you want, then go to the folder you have just downloaded the file and double click over the .ffxml file, it WILL BE COPIED AUTOMATICALLY to the "my filter" WITHOUT needing to go the app/data, roaming, FF3, etc.
