I installed the FF plugin in photoshop CS3 on Wed. 31 Dec 2008 on an iIntel iMac. I just opened photoshop for the first time to try FF as a plugin today 2 Jan 2009. Even though I have not used the FF plugin in CS3 before today (I have used FF as a standalone—installed beta on 31 Dec 08) I immediately got a dialog box stating that "The 30-day trial period has expired." There was then the link "Click here to buy Filter Forge" and two buttons one to "Enter License Key" and the "Close" button. I had to click the Close button and could not use FF as a plugin.

I downloaded and installed the Mac Beta 30 day trial on 12/26/08 and got the "Enter License Key" popup on 01/01/09. Could the change in year have anything to do with the trial expiring?
I have requested a license key since I already had prepaid order for the final Mac version when it is released. |

The same message that Suzanne mentioned and I mentioned in my original post also happened when I tried to open the stand alone version of FF today.

Same here.
I restarted FF today (after it crashed), and yep, "Trial Expired". |

I would suggest contacting FF directly (Contact tab at top) and tell them the problems.....they are very good about remedying these things quite quickly.....
Also, you can make two 30-day trial extension requests for a 90-day trial.....but you have to ask Bella nicely..... ![]() ![]() Steve

Yeah.... not happy. I also experienced the shortest 30 day trial ever. So... why am I pissed? I did as the warning dialog prompted. The choice (after telling me that the trail period had expired) was to cancel or purchase. This would lead a person with average intelligence to believe a purchase would result in the expiration being lifted. It doesn't help that I rendered something using FF and sent to a customer and they bought it. Now I'm on the hook for delivery of the design and I can't launch the damn program to finish it. I guess I should have been nicer to Bella in my email.

FF *resets* to demo mode occasionally. 9 out of 10 times just feeding it the key code again solves the problem, if not, a system restart might be needed. I've never been fully 'locked out' that I recall, but then I am using the Pc version only.

Feeding it WHAT key code? That's the problem... there is no key code even if you purchase the product! Here is (copy and pasted from email sent after purchase)
"We will send you a CD with the Mac OS X version of the Filter Forge Professional along with your license key..." So... by that I would conclude the the license key comes when I get the cd. "The CD will be sent to you when the program becomes commercially available." By this (as in 2 + 2 = 4) I conclude that the key won't arrive until the product is out of beta. "Meanwhile, you can download the beta version for Mac OS X and use it until the commercial version is released." hmmmmm |

One final rant and I'll shut the hell up:
The trial notes on the website state: * To remove the time limit, order the full version of Filter Forge I know my solution is to kindly ask Bella (I am assuming this is someone who either owns the company or is a developer?) to extend my trial time period or something. It just seems so unprofessional for such an amazing product to have problems like this. |

On the Beta Notes page:
That'll probably be your best option. |

When I got my 'full version', they emailed me a 12-16 or so digit key code. For the beta, obviously there isn't one, and FF will need to get on here and/or email the Mac people with a fix or a new version of FF with the time limit reset.
Bella is/seems to be, the main email/support person. Vlad is the "main guy", but Bella can sort you out fast, as can GMM usually. All I can say as a looong time Pc user, is have/find some patience ha-ha, and use the contact button to get ahold of them the fastest. Lord knows I've/we've (us old skooler Pc users) have butted heads with them many a time over similar basic probs, and they will deal with it, just give them 3-4 days. ![]() jffe Filter Forger |

I would just like to mention that FF stopped working for me, too. Because of other things that are going on, I didn't have a chance to try to use it until yesterday (Jan. 3,) and when I did, I got the same message everyone else is getting.
