I have posted for you a version of this filter in the other heavy Snow thread, or perhaps you mean that you want a version that makes the same without this LUA script, but I can´t do that as I do not know how to do it. If you can, do it.

I am sorry that I have used this LUA script, I did not know that it does not work on Mac.

Here is a text I have done with this filter with Preset 8

Look what happens when you reduce the blur, give color to the light, and underlay the image. smile8)

By the way, the word is very similar in English: "fossil".

Glad you like it. As Indigo Ray said is fossil (you can see this google images search) and is a good idea that can be possible and good.

Cool and very good effect, you have made the snow storm to go away and make the sun shine beautifully over the photo smile:) Looks great.

smile:D smile:D

Thanks, I like your idea and would also be good as shaving foam smile;) smile:D

Good similar "material" and is true that looks like this, although the shaving foam would never be able able to cover an object like this can do, I can´t imagine been able to make this effect with shaving foam in the reality smile:D

I know that this is not looking like REAL snow and is not realistic done (I wanted that way) but the behaviour of the effect is like the heavy snow when it covers something, at least this is what I feel and think.

Thanks for making me smile

I mean that the shaving cream will not stay flat and smooth and will make many irregular shapes even when covering objects.

and covering an object would be very diificult to make like this effect on this filter smile;) smile:D

But I think that you are refering to the LOOK and not the behaviour of the shaving foam

I called for a remix because you basically have a very basic surface filter. It's like my inner artist saying "Add some texture to it! Where's the snowy look?" I was thinking well if its this simple, it can be a great base for something cool.

Regardless of what you think about this, how lowly you may assume this filter is to you the point was that an idea is an idea and it should be prized and worked on instead of ending it where it is right now. So I thought I'd take the opportunity and design it further and give you a lateral look to it.

As said above I like more this plain and basic look, and I have tried adding a texture to make it less plain and basic, but I do not like a grainy effect as shown in this Ice Age of Time by MeKenzie.

After trying some ways, I liked always more the plain and basic one than the textured one, so this is why I decided to have it this way

So this is not that I was lazy and did not want to add some textures for it to look more realistic and be more like real snow, BUT if you want I could add a switch where you could choose to have it textured or not, and so you could decide.

I have to say that I am not feeling bad or angry at all for the shaving foam comparison, because I agree that this effect is not realistic, and I did not explain this at the beginning, and I know that many filters try to be as realistic as possible, but I am sorry that this is not what I wanted here, and is not that I could not do it, is that I like more it this way.

Pease, feel free to make your own more realistic version using this version as base.

Nice to see people making use of my shadows. smile:) It's a shame it has issues with the mac version. I wish I knew what could be done to fix that (though I think some of my filters without lua don't work on mac, either, so its probably a general filter Forge stability issue on Macs).

A suggestion for the filter while I'm here: It needs some more texture (or at least the option for it). Real snow is made up of piles of tiny ice crystals. This filter looks way too smooth. You also probably want to work m some blue ambient lighting by default as well. Do a google image search for "snow", you'll see what I mean.

Yes, they are very good and well done and get a nice effect that would not be possible without it, unless I could find another different way. Thanks for making it.

I agree that the result is perhaps TOO smooth but I like it as it is now and is like many heavy snow photos I have found, BUT I AGREE that there should be an option to turn on some more texture for the snow for those that would want to have it and not be so smooth, so I will make an upgrade to it with this whenever I can

I think the smooth look of the snow makes it look like there's more distance between the viewer and the snow, while adding texture will make it look like the viewer is closer to the snow.
If you look at images of large landscapes covered in snow, you don't see much texture. On the other hand, when the snow is close to you, like in your back yard, you see lots of texture. That why I thing there's reason to use both textured and untextured versions.
