Hi everyone.
Can someone please create a filter that makes several layers of misc straight and curved pipes and small square type hardware as in the attached image? I've been making textures like this in 3DS and then changing it into a decent image, but I forget that someone could probably have fun making a filter like this. ![]() Options which I think would be helpful for it: 1) Number of layers to add underneath 2) Different colour options 3) Layer depth 4) Curve amounts 5) Box amounts 6) Dirty/Grime amount 7) Dirt/Grime colour And anything else you may feel helpful for it. ![]() Thanks ![]() |

Uberzev made some filters that might be helpful in this direction... (?)
thread with uberzev's nodes I'm not planning on working on this, personally, but Flybye's ideas do seem to suggest interesting areas to explore... |

It looks a ways beyond me really, but just out of curiousity, can you post a larger version, it's hard to tell exactly how detailed (or not) that one really is being that small.

Well, looks like uberzev currently doesn't have time to do it. I guess I'll just sit back and hope some with the time and knowledge is able to do so.

you might also take a look at this filter: http://www.filterforge.com/filters/4728.html at first glance it might not look like it could do what you want, but if you look at the presets, i'd say there's a good chance you could mod it to do something close.

I was actually thinking about that too - if the distortions are removed and the noise modules exchanged with the blocky worley, then I think there's a good chance it will work. I can't test it atm.. |

I have absolutely no clue how this editor works.
Thus, if any of you guys can create a new filter for me either from scratch or from a similar one, I would most certainly appreciate it. ![]() |

Hey that looks great!
Could you make the pipes a bit thicker, though? Or will the pipe thickness be adjustable? It would be great if it could look like the sample pick I provided with the thick pipes that actually look like a complex part of plumbing. |

Yeah, if he could make the filter allow you to create all sorts of different effects, that would be great.
I'd like it to have a dirty look to it since this would be used on a spaceship, but as StevieJ mentioned, he would like a chrome version of the pipes as well. Again, great work Mousewrites. This is VERY much appreciated. I hope you get some credits towards a free copy of Filter Forge. ![]() |

hee hee. No, not yet. I'm trying (in vain, so far!) to make the pipes thicker. The 'pipe making method' I used just doesn't let me have thick pipes... and if I add more pipe layers, the damn this slows down.
Soon, soon... |

Excellent Mousewrites! Even so though, your filter in current condition looks very nice indeed! I'd hate to think it won't be released due to not achieving the "last mile" that you're looking for.

Yeah, but it would be REALLY nice if we can have thick plumbing style pipes as in the original pic I showed.
![]() Mousewrites, Observe and I, and several others, will probably be using this texture for space craft, stations, etc. Which is somewhat why the thick plumping would be excellent for the inner workings of these objects. As it is, this is very much appreciated and your last example looks excellent. We would happily accept any version you release. ![]() |

![]() How's that hit ya? I've got to futz with the areas the pipes overlap (there's some weirdness there) and I want to add more details and such, but here's a thicker, chromey-er, busier version. |

Wow..I'd say that is nearly perfect!
![]() If it is too much trouble to add a dirty effects options to it, I wouldn't worry as I could always touch that up in Photoshop. ![]() |

Yes, as Flybye mentions, this (your) filter will be used as 3D material texture for in-game spacecraft models. Having "dirty" worn look of well used machinery would likely be better than nice shiny new appearance.

![]() Ok, it's submitted. Here's one varient; orange rust with dark blue panels. There's several different looks you can get with this now. It should go 'live' by tomorrow. It's slow; the layers of pipe make it so. If someone wants to 'tune it up' they can, and I'd love to see how you did it. Thoughts? |

I think it's great. Thx!!
The only thing I would change on it are the colours of the little sqaure areas, and make the entire thing not have that "gloss" effect. This is pretty much the effect we are looking for: ![]() I would also probably ask not to have each layer of piping not be so interconnected with each other, but this is fine and well appreciated. ![]() |

Panel color can be changed in the settings, as well as how 'complex' (read: interconnected) each layer is.
The 'pitting'/gloss would have be added in, but the thing is so slow now I didn't want to ad another layer of complexity. I'll update it at some point soon. |
