I have just seen this description that works very well for FF and is like a factory assembly line

Quote
It is easy to visualize: imagine an assembly line of workers. Each worker does one thing, and one thing only. After he or she has done their operation, the object is passed on to the next person who does his thing.

In the Filter Forge assembly line nodes are the workers. They are the basic building blocks of the application.

Baahh! It's so basic they didn't cover non-linear workflows! smile:p That's a hyper important part of FilterForge and it's basic construction of filters.

That's the problem, it's too basic that it doesn't get anywhere. Any node-based workflow is a non-linear interface. So what would be a appropriate would be to teach people how to think in a non-linear fashion. I mean, sure in the end everything you do would be "linear." The signal can flow in one direction, it doesn't flow backwards or forwards (at least for now) and so yeah, I guess it's important to teach people how to go in one direction. But I think that's the problem with teaching people stuff like this.

I've done little seminars on node-based interfaces and I realized that it's important to teach people the true awesomeness of non-linear workflows because most people are NOT used to thinking like that and a basic workflow should incorporate such schemes.

I donno, in the end I'm just being too critical about a beginner tutorial. But I'm kinda saying things out of experience. smile:)

Well, I am one of those that do not know what is thinking in a non-linear way and do not know what you mean what do you mean to make a non-linear workflow, and where is this true awesomeness you tell.

Where did you make those little seminars? Are they paid seminars on internet or how you have done them?

I think that maybe this could be the key to making better filters and something that as you say well, most people does not even know that there is a linear and non-linear workflow

I think that this thread can be useful and interesting for new filter forge user that may be starting now and want to know more about it and how it works, specially if you are using the trial version to see if you want to buy it or not
